Context

System context.

Background

Dispo Genius originally depended on GoHighLevel for CRM, conversations, and billing. Covent is the second-generation platform: cloud-native, event-driven, and capable of operating independently without abandoning customers who prefer GHL.

Challenge

Decouple core product capabilities from GHL without breaking the Marketplace integration or forcing existing customers into a disruptive migration. The new platform needed its own CRM, conversations stack, billing, tenancy boundaries, and account lifecycle management.

Architecture

Architecture and implementation.

Before

GHL-dependent application

Legacy

The original Marketplace application relied on GoHighLevel for the customer relationship layer, conversations, and billing.

Current

Covent owns its core product capabilities while retaining a GHL Marketplace path for customers who prefer GHL as their CRM or conversations provider.

01

Standalone multi-tenant core

Designed the backend around native tenant isolation, event-driven services, and cloud infrastructure that could evolve independently of GHL.

02

Native product capabilities

Introduced a native CRM, Resend-powered email, and Twilio-powered messaging and calls so Covent could own its core customer workflows.

03

Stripe billing architecture

Architected subscriptions, usage-based pricing, multi-tenant feature billing, webhooks, and automated suspension and cancellation flows.

04

Hybrid GHL compatibility

Kept Covent available as a GHL Marketplace application and designed a seamless hybrid mode for customers using GHL as their CRM or conversations provider.

Outcome

Results.

  • Established a standalone foundation for Covent without removing GHL Marketplace compatibility.
  • Replaced core third-party dependencies with native CRM, messaging, calling, email, and billing capabilities.
  • Created an event-driven, cloud-native base for continued product growth.
